What is the st vital mustangs policy on equipment rentals?

The Mustangs board of directors approved an Equipment Rental Policy in 2013 to allow players usage of our equipment for Camps to prepare for the upcoming season. It reads as follows:

Athletes requiring use of football equipment in the offseason will be required to pay a $100 equipment use fee.  This amount will be deducted from the athlete’s registration fees upon registration for the upcoming season.  If the athlete has not registered to play for the upcoming season, the equipment is due back by the Monday following registration weekend and the $100 fee will not be reimbursed.

Process:

Upon offseason rental of equipment, an “Equipment Rental” form will be completed and a $100 payment will be taken, along with the $300 equipment deposit.

The white part of the Equipment Rental form will be retained by the club and given to the Director of Finance.

The yellow part of the form will be given to the player to present at Registration for their discount.

The Director of Finance will create a master list of those players that have paid the $100 equipment rental to be used at Registration as confirmation of payment.

Is there a best time to book summer holidays or other summer activities for my player?

Winnipeg summers are short and family time is important. As a result the general philosophy of the club has been to NOT participate in preseason tournaments which would require much earlier practice start dates and conflicts with other activities. We try to balance the motivation to give families as much summer holiday time as possible before practices with the need to ensure our players are prepared to play once the regular season begins.

For those families that have the option, booking summer holidays or other activities (such as summer camp) in the first few weeks of July helps to ensure there won't be missed practice time. However, we understand options can be limited and you may need to book holidays/activities later in the summer. The coaches will work with you as required.  Please note that each coach must keep the safety of all players in mind and ensure that a player is adequately prepared before playing in a tackle football game. Ideally players will be able to participate in as many practices as possible before the season begins in mid August.

Per the MMFA BY-Laws (ages 8-15) all practices and camps held during June and July must be optional for players to attend. No player shall be disciplined nor discriminated against for missing practice in June or July.

What is the time commitment for players?

This depends on your coach however the average is 2 to 3 evenings per week (Monday to Friday) for practices and one game per week once the season begins. A weekend practice is possible depending on the circumstances but typically the weekends are left free for family time in the summer and games during the season.

For example, a Cruncher team (ages 8  & 9 years of age) might practice twice a week and play one game on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday). An older age group such as PeeWee (12 & 13) or Bantam (14 & 15) would typically practice 3 to 4 times per week and play one game on the weekend (Saturday or Sunday).
